Review: Brads Raw Leafy Kale Chips

bradsWhole Foods had a lady giving samples of these the other day and it was pretty good. I didn’t try them all because I am not into eating spicy things, but I bought the Pina Kale-Ada flavor.  They cost about $6 each, and are probably only good to you if you like kale chips.  If you aren’t into kale chips, then you probably won’t care for these very much. They are crispy and the Pina Kale Ada flavor had a good sweet flavor to it. They are gluten free, all natural, Non-GMO, and vegan. They were very good, but considering the price, I probably won’t be buying these again.

Review: Paleo Snack, Dang Coconut Chips!

dang-chips

I saw these at Sprouts and had to try them.  I am so glad I did!  I bought the caramel sea salt flavor for $2.29, which isn’t too bad for a good snack.  The ingredients are Coconut, Coconut Sugar and Sea Salt. They are all natural, vegan, Non-GMO, Gluten free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, have no cholesterol and are a good source of fiber. The whole package is 220 calories, with 6 grams of fiber and 14 grams of sugar.  Probably a little high on the sugar side, but a great treat when you want to eat something sweet.  These are so addicting, I ate the whole bag in one sitting!  My poor husband didn’t even get to try them, sorry sweetie, I will buy some more tomorrow.  This is definitely something I’m going to continually buy, these are great especially when you are traveling. The toasted coconut tastes like butter and the mixture of the sugar and salt, ah, I want some more right now!  If you enjoy eating coconut I promise you will love these!!! These would also make a great topping for any dessert recipe! They can be found in the nut section. Seriously, they are amazing!!! It’s like eating candy again!

Review: Hail Merry Tarts Paleo Dessert

tarts

Not only does Hail Merry make coconut macaroons, but they also make tarts! These tarts can be found at Sprouts, Whole Foods and some grocery stores in the refrigerated section. These tarts come in 6 flavors.  I have tried the chocolate and the coconut vanilla creme. The chocolate was okay, but the coconut vanilla creme was amazing! It tasted just like pie!   They cost about $5 each, so it’s definitely something you want to be on occasion as a special treat.  For more information on these tarts check out there site here: http://www.hailmerry.com/.

Review: Hail Merry Macaroons – Paleo Treat!

macaroons

If your looking for a Paleo treat and enjoy macaroons these are going to be one of your favorite things to eat.  But let me warn you, they are very addicting, and hard to stop eating them. These macaroons are gluten free, vegan, soy free, all natural, kosher and contain no GMO’s. They can be found at Sprouts or Whole Foods in a refrigerated section and cost about $5 a bag.  It’s kind of pricey considering you don’t get too many, but considering the ingredients in it, you can understand why it’s so expensive. It is definitely worth it, but not something you would want to buy all the time.  The one on the left is chocolate flavored, and it was good, but the one on the right is strawberry flavored, and it is beyond good.  If you love strawberry cheesecake, you will love the strawberry flavored one.  It taste just like it! I can’t even express how good it was!  To find out more about these, or order some online check out their site here: http://www.hailmerry.com

Review: All Natural Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups and Candy Bars

candyOver the weekend I splurged and had a lot of sugar.  I am paying for it now and trying to get back off sugar, but at least I got a few things to add to my blog.  Justin’s all natural candy, peanut butter cups and candy bars are absolutely amazing. They are not Paleo, but are all gluten free, all natural, and the dark chocolate peanut butter cups are dairy free.  The candy bars were on sale 4 bars for $5 and they just came out.  The peanut butter cups cost about $.99 for 1 cup.  They taste like a healthier cleaner version of a snickers bar and Reeses Peanut Butter Cup.  For a special treat and definitely an all natural replacement, I highly recommend these.

Justin’s all make nut butters which are really good too. They make almond butter, maple almond butter, honey almond butter, chocolate hazelnut butter, chocolate almond butter, peanut butter, and honey peanut butter. I have had a few of these and they are also very tasty.

Review: Paleo Epic Bars

BisonBar

My brother went on and on about these Epic bars so I had to try them.  These bars are 100% grass fed either bison, turkey or beef protein bars that are gluten free, paleo and low in sugar.  They retail for about $3 each at Whole Foods. Here is more information on these bars: http://www.epicbar.com/

I tried the Bison Cranberry Bar and had to spit it out.  My brother, my mother and sister all seemed to like this bar, but to me it tasted like a chewy raw meat.  I did not like the texture of it at all.  I would much rather eat a Tanka Bar from a previous review here: https://glutenfreepaleo.wordpress.com/2013/02/15/review-paleo-tanka-buffalo-cranberry-bar/

Review: Crisp Root Chips…Substitute for Potato Chips!

crisprootchips

We found these the other day at Sprouts Farmers Market for about $2.99 and checked to see if they were Paleo. These chips are made from the Cassava Root, which is also known as tapioca, manioc and yuca, and from what I researched it fits under the “Paleo category.” It looks like a potato and is the primary energy source for many people around the world.  They come in 4 different flavors. We tried the sea salt flavor and these chips were amazing! It taste just like a potato chip, except it was very hard. If I had served these at a party, I don’t believe anyone would have known they were different! Compared to a potato chip, these chips have 30% less fat, and double the fiber! These chips are all natural and gluten free.  Just because these are better for you, doesn’t mean you can eat them all the time, but these are a great substitute for potato chips when you are craving them.

Review: Diana’s Bananas Banana Babies Chocolate Dipped Banana!

dianas_banana_babies copy

I’ve tried so hard to stay away from sugar, but this has become my guilty pleasure.  There’s a place called The Chocolate Bar, where we use to live, and it’s basically a dessert shop where they make ice cream, cookies, cakes, candy, and anything chocolate related.  I use to always buy the dark chocolate dipped bananas.  When I saw this in stores, I had to try it, and it was so good! I believe they cost $4.99 for a box of 6 pops. They can be found at Sprouts and Whole Foods.  They are an all all natural, gluten free frozen banana dipped in dairy free dark chocolate.  These are not messy to eat and freeze really well. If your looking for a somewhat healthier treat than an ice cream, I would definitely recommend these!
